This course is designed to introduce students to traditional jewelry fabrication techniques such as: drilling, piercing, filing, soldering, bezel setting, and finishing. Design, safety, and proper tool usage will also be covered. Through demonstrations and hands-on practice students will learn the fundamental hand-skills necessary to create their own beautiful piece of jewelry to take home. Students will fabricate a ring from design to finish as an introduction to the class, then they may begin work on more individualized projects. The instructor will have a limited selection of materials which can be purchased in class, students are encouraged to bring any stones or metals they have to the class. No experience necessary.
