This course is designed to introduce students to traditional jewelry fabrication techniques such as: drilling, piercing, filing, soldering, bezel setting, and finishing. Design, safety, and proper tool usage will also be covered. Through demonstrations and hands-on practice students will learn the fundamental hand-skills necessary to create their own beautiful piece of jewelry to take home. Students will fabricate a ring complete with a bezel set cabochon. If time permits, students can begin work on additional projects. The instructor will have silver and a limited selection of cabochon stones to choose from which can be purchased during class. Students are encouraged to bring any stones or metals they have to the class. No experience necessary. A materials fee of $12 is added to the tuition.
