MB2313 October 19 & 20, 2013 (10am - 5pm) Saturday/Sunday (The Good Forge)
In this weekend workshop, students will explore the fundamentals of bladesmithingódiscovering along the way, how the process differs from blacksmithing. Topics covered will include forging high carbon and tool steels, basic heat treating, forging blade shapes, grinding, polishing and sharpening. Students can expect to complete the making of one self-handled knife. A studio/materials fee of $45 is due at time of registration. Under age 18, please call for details.
Matt is a self-taught blacksmith and sword maker. He graduated from the
manufacturing technologies program at Vinal R.V.T.S. in Middletown, CT
where he learned forming, machining, fabricating metal, heat treating
and metallurgy. Matt is co-owner of Falling Hammer Productions, LLC,
which produces custom knives and swords, high-end railings, furniture,
