With the price of gold at an all time high, this quick and easy technique allows you to add gold to your jewelry at a fraction of the price. Keum-boo is a Korean technique, also widely used in traditional Japanese and Chinese metal work, which translates to “attached gold.” Learn how to apply 24 kt gold foil to flat and three-dimensional pieces of silver with the use of a hot plate. There is no studio/materials fee for this workshop, instead students are asked to bring in their own silver pieces to be embellished and to purchase a sheet of 4” x 4” 24 kt gold foil and a 6” x 6” sheet of 20 gauge brass. Click on the above materials tab for more information.
