CL1510 Feb 20-21 (10:00am-4:00pm) Saturday/Sunday (Clay Studio)
This hands on intensive workshop is geared to the potter with basic throwing experience who wants to gain better control of their forms. Through a series of exercises on the wheel, students will learn to focus on forms such as bowls, vases, round vessels, tall necked vessels and composite forms. Learn how to throw more effectively, displace clay to raise walls and strengthen forms. Discussion and demonstrations of shapes, continuous curves, designing the base of forms for trimming and types of ribs used for throwing will be provided to help students gain control of their wheel thrown forms. If possible, students should bring examples of their work, ideas, and goals so that we may address specific techniques and share sources of inspiration. Clay will be available for purchase at $14 per 25lb bag, and there is a firing fee of $.05 per cubic inch.
