GF0312 Dec 8-9, 2012 (Sat 10am-1pm, Sun 10am-12pm) Saturday/Sunday (Glass Studio, Railroad Building)
In this fast paced introduction to fused glass, students will learn fusing techniques by creating components for jewelry and small items such as holiday ornaments, bookmarks, wine stoppers, and letter openers. These are the same techniques used to make larger items like bowls etc. By starting small you can explore the medium with minimal kiln time, cost for tuition and materials. Topics will include cutting, grinding, preparing pieces for the kiln and firing. Students wishing to work at a more comfortable pace may prefer Fused Glass 101. Students may choose from a variety of glass included in the materials fee (does not include dichroic), and may also wish to enhance or complete their projects by purchasing additional materials or taking the Fused Glass 101 follow up session(s). A list of tools and materials suppliers will be provided. Specialty glass, silver wire, findings and gift components will also be available for purchase from the instructor. A studio/materials fee of $20 is due at time of registration.
