be held 10/17.
Members of Brookfield Craft Center are welcome to purchase torch time by joining the Open Studio Program in the Glass Studio. (Not a Member? Click
to learn more or sign up.) BCC lampwork glass students and local skilled artists can purchase studio time as low as $10/hr to use BCC's oxy/propane Nortel Minor Bench Burners and annealing kilns to work independently on projects. Open Studio sessions are monitored by a lampwork glass artist, are 3 hours in length, and are held Wednesday evenings 6-9pm. Pay a drop-in rate at the door, or purchase 3 or more sessions on an Open Studio Card to participate in the program. Periodically, sessions may be dropped due to schedule conflicts. Participants will be notified with as much advanced notice as possible. A limited supply of effetre glass will be available to purchase from the studio at $2/rod.
NOTE: For the time being, Open Studio is for use of soft glass. Borosilicate glass may only be used with prior special arrangements with the monitor on a session-by-session basis. This is because the kiln sitter is currently programmed for soft glass. Participants working in boro will be asked to pay an additional $30 per session to account for the higher fuel consumption.
- Drop-in rate (one 3-hr session) - $40
- Buy 3 or more sessions (use on or before 12/19/12) - $30
Participants must be BCC Members, possess basic torch skills, and have had prior instruction and experience using BCC's glass studio equipment. Only members who can exhibit sufficient skills and knowledge of equipment will be granted studio access. No refunds or credits will be offered for unused Open Studio sessions.
