Summer Youth How to Draw Comic Books-Week 2 afternoon session
YP7320 Jul 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 2017 (1:00pm-4:00pm) Mon-Fri (River Room)
Join us in a fun, inspiring and collaborative environment as students will learn the basics of comic book storytelling, story structure, pacing, character development and the basics of superhero drawing. This week-long session is a good way to be introduced to the world of comic books! No experience necessary - All levels are welcome!
Summer Youth Painting Wk 3 morning session
YP7321 Aug 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 2017 (9am-12pm) Mon-Fri (River Room)
Students will have fun while they learn painting techniques. They will follow along with the teacher as they create finished paintings that they can bring home and show off each day of class. Students will work with materials like acrylics and watercolor paints that will be supplied by the instructor.
Painting FAST & LOOSE, an Oil Painting Weekend Workshop
SD7302 Aug 26 & 27 2017 (10am-4pm) Saturday & Sunday (River Room)
Fast painting enables students to loosen-up their painting style and paint fresher, more spontaneous, expressive paintings. Various approaches to painting will be encouraged: experimentation of techniques and ideas, trial and error. Students will be challenged to see and interpret in new ways by eliminating details and simplifying values. Students will gain the confidence to explore the use of color, mark making, surface quality and composition, emphasizing their own pictorial language. Question where you are and where you wish to go. Students bring their own supplies; the instructor will provide a suggested supply list. Please bring reference material for inspiration. Ages 15 and over.
Watercolor Painting All Levels

SD7303 Sep 5, 12, 19, 26 2017 (10am-12 noon) 4 Tuesdays (River Room)
Whether you are experienced with watercolor painting or are new to the medium, in this class you will learn the tips and tricks to create beautiful works of art. Explore creativity, have fun and build confidence while following along with your instructor in a step by step process. Learn about composition, color, brushstrokes and wet-on-wet painting plus more.
Students may bring their own preferred supplies or purchase a kit for $30 from the instructor. A list of suggested supplies may be obtained from the teacher. Ages 16 and over.
Japanese Wood Block Prints: Moku Hanga
SD7401 Nov 4, 2017 (10am-4:30pm) Saturday (River Room)
This entry-level course in the centuries old art of Moku Hanga brings students through the process of creating a simple design, transferring and carving it into multiple blocks of wood, and printing a set of images. The process is 'modernized' in parts for ease but the course stays as true to tradition as possible. Ages 18 and over.
