WT7102 Jan 17 through April 4 2017 (9am-3:30pm) 10 sessions within 12 Tuesdays (Turning Studio)


Create functional and artistic lathe turned objects in this 10 session class. This workshop examines the evolution of turning and explores how the lathe and its tools are used today to produce art and functional products. Topics include wood selection and preparation, tool choice, use and control, spindle turning, bowl and vessel turning, hollow turning, box making, off center turning and finishing. Students of every level are welcomed and are free to explore their own interests in a small class setting. Participants may select any 10 of the 12 available dates to attend. Students supply their own wood and finishing materials or may purchase from instructor.. Ages 16 and over.
Learn to Turn a Simple Box

This is a hands-on class for beginners and experienced beginners. Learn some new skills while making some beautiful keepsake boxes. Ages 16 and older. A materials fee of $12.00 will be added to the tuition.

WT7106 Feb 11 & 12, 2017 (10am - 4:30pm) Saturday/Sunday (Turning Studio, Railroad Building)

Take your woodturning skills to the next level with well-designed and beautifully crafted bowls. Bowl Turning 102 picks up where Bowl Turning 101 or The Wonderful World of Wood Turning leaves off. After a review of basic skills and concepts, students will proceed at their own level and pace with individual assistance and coaching. All phases of bowl turning will be covered, from wood preparation to final sanding and finishing. This course is designed for students who have completed a foundation-level woodturning course at BCC, have some other lathe experience, or would like to polish some rusty skills. A materials fee of $35 will be added to the tuition

If you've ever wanted to learn how to use a lathe, making a wooden pen is a great place to start. Using off-the-shelf pen kits you'll learn how to make one of the most satisfying lathe projects. Pens are fast and easy to make and the results are spectacular. They make great conversation pieces and are always appreciated as gifts. Ages 16 and older. A materials fee of $10.00 will be added to the tuition.

Who doesn't like pizza?
This class is for beginners and experienced beginners. This class covers the selection and preparation of wood to turn the handle for a stainless steel pizza cover with a removable cutter wheel for easy cleaning. Wood selections and finishes will be covered.. Ages 16 and older. A materials fee of $18.00 will be added to the tuition.
