This course is an introduction to relief print making, one of the simplest methods of creating a print block. The final image can be reproduced multiple times without the need of the press. This course will cover technique of carving the print block with lino cutting tools. The hard rubber blocks will be used in the class for the material is easier to cut and the technique taught is similar to carving the linoleum or wood blocks. In the second part of the class, registration of print block on paper and printing (hand pulling the prints of their own) is demonstrated. Students will practice printing by creating multiple prints of their own. The main goal of the course is creating a one color print block and learn some creative ways to add color to one color print block. Relief print making technique is suitable for creating fine art prints and greeting cards.
Supplies included. Ages 10-14.
