Jul 14 & 15, 2018
JF8302 Jul 14 & 15, 2018 (10am-5pm) Sat/Sun (Jewelry Studio)
This workshop is all about foldforming and forming metal into 3 dimensional forms. think of metal origami- instead of using paper, we use sheet metal to fold, hammer shape, twist into fantastic shapes and patterns. Sheet metal can be folded in half, hammered on the folded edge and then opening it up for a new look or shape such as pods. For anticlastic raising, sheet metal can be hammered on specialized anticlastic stakes and hammers to create sinuous curves, 3-D twists, tubular forms that open up into a flower or a freeform sculpture or a curvy metal ribbon. This is a very physical and noisy workshop with plenty of hammering, so ear protection will be neceesary. We will be working in copper, nu-gold and also in silver if students want to work in silver. A materials fee of $25 will be added to the tuition.
