This course is an introduction to relief print making. Relief printing in one color is the simplest of print making techniques. Prints will be reproduced multiple times without the need of press. This course will cover technique of carving the hard rubber print block with lino cutting tools. Hard rubber material is easier to cut and the technique taught is essentially similar to carving linoleum or wood block. Students will learn about about registration of print block to paper and hand pulling prints of their own. The main goal of the course is to create one color print but some options to add color to one color prints will be discussed also. Relief print making technique is a versatile technique suitable for creating fine art prints and greeting cards. A material fee of $15 will be added to the tuition. Students ages 14 and over.
