WT8107 Mar 17-18, 2018 Saturday & Sunday 9 am-3:30pm, (Turning Studio)
In this fun filled weekend workshop students will learn how to turn 8" to 10" diameter plates out of poplar, cherry or maple wood. The workshop will focus on using an AI Stirt style shear scraper to turn surfaces that require little or no sanding. The complexity of the plate shape and design details will be adjusted to match individual skill levels. Mark Baker's "Woodturning Projects- A Workshop Guide to Shapes" book will be used as a source of inspiration for plate designs. Students will be encouraged to improvise on the designs in the book like jazz music to come up with their own designs. Students can use Carl's copy of the book. The book is NOT REQUIRED to take the class. Ages 18 and over. A $20 material fee will be added to the tuition.
